Potluck Desserts! (10/14)

Potluck desserts, what a great idea! People were excited and happy to do it.  At first I thought I'd ask everyone coming!... but then decided we didn't want to get too wild with it, so we asked our mothers, my aunt, and a few friends.

I heard later, "that was the best dessert table at a wedding...ever!"  I think it was the variety, the yumminess and how each individual dessert was made with love.  My Aunt Diane was in charge of the dessert table.  She set them up when peeps brought them into the tent, and decorated the table.  She kicked that tables butt!  It looked beautiful!
We printed labels with the name of each dessert and who the baker was. We had a lovely variety, that spoke to each person and our families.
We had:

A Rainbow Heart Wedding Cake and Key-Lime Cheesecake made by my mama.  (One of the top hearts was saved in the freezer for our one year anniversary!)

Chocolate covered Coconut Macaroons, Apple Pie, Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and a
Pumpkin Pie made by my mother-in-law.

Sweet Bells (an Indian Dessert made from sweet flour, sugar, vanilla extract and dipped into a mixture of sugar glazed syrup and honey) and Pear-ra (an Indian Dessert made from sweet milk & sugar with almonds and pistachio nuts) from my aunt.

And finally, Red Velvet Cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Buttercream, Carrot Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting, Blueberry Cupcakes with Lemon Frosting and Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cupcakes with Vanilla Frosting made by friends.

 Thoughtful. Fun. Delicious.

Lemon Drop Cookies

I love citrus!  A squeeze of lemon in my water, over seafood..in a cookie!

A few weekends ago, my husband and I went over to our neighbors house for a cup of tea.
I brought the cookies!  It was a lovely and relaxing afternoon.  Watching the birds fly over their pond, (see below) sipping tea with honey straight from their hive..and let's not forget the cookies..(see left)!!

I got the recipe off the blog two peas & their pod.  I came across this blog via Pinterest. O boy do I love Pinterest!  The cookies themselves were pretty good, but next time I'm in the mood for a lemon cookie, I am going to try these!

Celebrate!

I recently turned 32.  Really.
Even though I am getting way older than I feel.. faster then I imagined, my birthday is still a day I look forward to!  This year was no exception.  My birthday, like a new year, is a time to reflect and dream.  Reflect on things I have accomplished and dream of things I hope to.  It is a time to celebrate life and love....and o boy do I feel loved!  From the special gifts and homemade treats to the friends and family that helped me to celebrate life! Thank you! Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to make me feel special.  For helping cook a delicious meal, for sharing a drink, for singing a song, for a thoughtful gift and kind words.  Thank you for making me something with your bare hands and for saying happy birthday with your heart!
As I get older I feel quite happy!
I am grateful for my life, and this 32nd year ahead!
